We have 300 disadvantaged people on our books. Each year 70 new clients present themselves at SHOC. Many of them are homeless and many need help with health and financial issues.
We can help them to turn their lives around - your support can make a real difference. Here’s how:
Make a donation online now to help us change the lives of homeless and disadvantaged people in need.
You can donate online by linking to the ; where you just enter 'Slough Homesless Our Concern' in the search box that appears, then click on 'Donate'. Alternately you can send cheques or CAF vouchers to our address, given on our "Contact us" page.
You can also donate online by linking to the website, where you enter 'Slough Homeless Our Concern' in the search box, then click on 'Donate'.
Or you can set up a standing order with your bank or building society. Making a regular contribution to SHOC spreads the cost of your gift and enables us to plan for the future on the basis of pledged income. Standing order forms are available on request or click here to download a standing order form.
If you donate shares to SHOC, you can obtain tax relief at your highest rate on their market value as well as exemption from any Capital Gains Tax. This means that donating £100 worth of shares to us will only cost you £60.
You might also like to consider making a bequest to SHOC in your Will. Leaving a legacy gives you the satisfaction of knowing that you have made a lasting contribution to our work. Most solicitors can advise you on how to make a charitable bequest.
However you make your donation to SHOC, it can be worth 28% more to us under the Government's Gift Aid scheme if you are an income tax payer. And if you pay tax at the higher rate of 40%, you will also receive further tax relief on your donation. Please state whether you are making your donation under Gift Aid so we can recover the tax paid.
"The Worshipful the Mayor of Slough, Cllr Jagjit Grewal, presented horticulture certificates to a group of users from Slough Homeless Our Concern (SHOC) on Wednesday, September 29. The group of seven people have been busy preparing an allotment plot and growing their own produce, with the support of their tutors from adult lifelong learning. The delicious vegetables have been a big hit at SHOCs base at Serena Hall in Burlington Avenue when they were served up for lunch. The project has seen the residents produce a portfolio of work that has led to five gaining a certificate in horticultural production."
